Do You Have to Be Potty Trained For Daycare?

Your child does not have to be potty trained for daycare. Most children aren’t ready to start being potty trained till 18 months. Most parents enroll their child in daycare as early as 3 months. Children that young will not be prepared to be potty trained when they start childcare.

Why Your Child Doesn’t Need to Be Potty Trained Prior to Daycare

My wife and I both have full-time jobs. Because of that, we had to enroll our son in daycare when he was barely over three months of age.

As stated above, because children can enroll in daycare at such a young age, many children are nowhere near ready for potty training by the time they enroll in childcare.

According to Mayo Clinic, children are not ready to be potty trained till around 18-24 months. Many kids will NOT be ready until they’re past three years of age, even at that range.

Does Daycare Help with Potty Training?

Many daycares help with potty training. This is very helpful for parents who both work full-time and rely on daycare for full-time childcare.

I remember when my son came home, and we were trying to figure out how to start potty training and was shocked to realize that the daycare had already started trying to potty train him.
